There are four words an athlete never wants to hear. "Your season is done." This is devastating to any athlete who hears them. For one particular athlete, He heard five worse words. "You may never walk again." That athlete is Rutgers Football player, Eric LeGrand.
LeGrand did nothing wrong. His tackle was with good form, trying to get his head off to the side. It just so happened that the Army returner tried to spin off and made contact with LeGrands helmet to leave him frozen on the ground. LeGrands legs were frozen stiff in the air, and he couldn't do anything but shake his head violently. He was left paralyzed from the neck down.
Just recently though, LeGrand has regained sensation in his hands and movement in his shoulders. He has hope yet. His families moto is Believe, and you best believe that LeGrand has the determination to regain all motor functions to walk out on to that field again, though he will not be a player, but instead a hero. An idol. Motivation to strive for your best, and not to take anything for granted. Because he has shown that anything can bring your life crumbling to the ground. Its a matter of building it back up. I will keep you updated on LeGrands progress throughout this blog.
